Music Schedules
Taking inspiration from existing music discovery in the wild. These lo-fi concepts for music schedules guided our direction for exploration. The green square indicated the direction hi-fi designs would follow.
Card explorations - my aim was to highlight creator brand as much as possible. I wanted each of the cards to feel like a mini concert poster for each artist. I like to design for BigBird as a test - if it looks good in yellow, it will look good for everyone!
The Problem:
Finding new content to watch on Twitch is challenging. Music streamers, just by the nature of their content, stream less than gamers. Doing a 2 hour live show is a lot. This highlights the discovery problems of the platform and makes the window of finding music you love even smaller.
The Solution:
Schedule segments were added to channel profiles in 2020 with 40% adoption of creators across the platform. Since music streamers are offline even more than gamers, we decided to add schedule segments to music category first.

Placing those cards into shelves to understand who they will work together in the context of the page.
Final Designs
The final design included two hero designs for testing. The final design used the banner art with the avatar to create an pseudo “album cover”. The hero section displays three streams and the subsequent cards are displayed chronological order.
The second hero section, using the same cards a s the main section denoted with the purple accent banner.
The design was implemented on iOS and Android.
Results:
Minutes watched on the music category increased 20% due to schedules. The two hero banners were tested. The repeated cards with purple background was more successful and is still in production today.
